The CEO of Sugarcane & By-Products Development Company has announced the collection and packaging of some of the residues from green sugarcane harvesting.

According to Dr. Abd Ali Naseri, sugarcane branches include about 25% of the total production of sugarcane cultivation, which has a good nutritional value in such a way that its raw protein and energy yield are higher than cereal straw, and it can be classified in the category of medium fodder.

He added: During last year’s drought, in line with its social responsibilities, this company provided part of the branches obtained from green sugarcane harvesting to the Union of Nomadic Affairs for free.

he CEO of Sugarcane & By-Products Development Co. also pointed out the high capacity of this industry in the production of animal feed, and specified that Shuaibieh Animal Feed Production Company is one of the subsidiaries of the Sugarcane Industry, which currently produces 40,000 tons of animal feed from wastage and prevents the loss of sugarcane residues and turns it into a material with high added value.

Naseri added: the use of sugarcane residues in the production of animal feed, in addition to economic and environmental benefits, leads in currency saves for the country.

He mentioned the collection of sugarcane stalks as a research project to provide livestock fodder, and stated that the full implementation of this project in Sugarcane Agro-Industries will prevent the decline of the livestock industry in Iran.
